5k Progress

If you recall, just under a month ago I talked about my first 5K attempt on the treadmill to get a baseline.  And here I am, a month later, still going at it.  And day after day, mile after mile, I don't notice the changes and the success (though yesterday, with my longest 'running' time, I did notice that) but sometimes  I need to stop and look at the hard facts.

Just under a month ago, I walked 3.10 miles in 61:18.  That's not bad, but I knew I could do better, and if my goal is to do it in 45 minutes or less in September, I have a lot of work ahead of me.  So I did just that. I worked really hard once March started to try and make sure every day I do at least a mile worth of work, whether it's my bike or my treadmill.

So this is a reminder of last time:

Feb 22, 2011

And today:

March 21, 2011

And, because I wanted to see how far I've come, I continued my walk, until I hit 61:18 (though I will admit, I slowed down by that point):

Nice move Nike

I'm bouncing around twitter checking up on my daily news and seeing what's out there when I stumble across a link talking about Nike focusing on women with a new app.  Well two things jump out at me, app (because frankly I love apps) and the fact that it was geared towards women.

I must say, I'm intrigued.  I have downloaded it on my android (it's available in itunes market and android market)

Some of the features of the app include:
  • The ability to work out to music from your own library
  • 15-, 30- and 45-minute workouts in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels
  • Milestone rewards that can unlock different badges (a la Foursquare) and earn “inspiration” from Nike athletes and trainers
  • Detailed videos showing how to do certain drills
I'm very excited to try it out.  I will do this tonight, after my Power90 workout (MUST work out this week!!  My goal is every day!).  I will report back...

Err... Where'd that workout attitude go?

Getting sick really throws me off. I plan on getting back on track this week.  I have this week to work out. And then the following week (the week of the 13th) I have to 'take it easy' after surgery for two weeks. So I don't know how hard I'll be pushing myself.

Man it's just so easy to get off track!

Power 90 Workout

So I am still planning on doing the couch to 5K, but I needed something else to keep things going. So I went on Ebay and got an older copy of the Power90 DVDs.  My sister has P90x and I know Insanity is out there as well, but I had to start somewhere.

So far? I did the Cardio and the Ab Ripper, and it's an awesome workout.  It's very similar to the Fit4Life bootcamp I was doing (that I miss SOOO MUCH!)

So, between training and doing Power90, I should be seeing progress in a few weeks, like new years time?? :)
