I decided to participate in a challenge that Fitblogger is doing. Challenging ourselves to a healthier lifestyle.
It's called Step into Summer challenge, you can click the button on the right hand side to read more about it.
So this week - what was my challenge? Water. Water. Water. Drink it. More. More. More.
Have I succeeded so far? To be honest, no. I haven't. I have been getting in about 32 ounces of water. Which - for general standards, that's half of what I should be getting in. But for me, that's an improvement considering I used to only get in about a cup or two a day, max.
So - ideally my goal is to get in 8-10 glasses of water. How can I do this? I'm going to drink my entire water bottle before lunch(so 24 ounces). Fill up at lunch, getting at least 1 serving in at lunch. And then fill it back up after lunch, and finishing that before the end of the day. That will give me 7 servings before I even go home. From there, fill it up one final time, and finish it by the end of the evening - and I will meet my goal.
This will always be an ongoing battle with me, but it might take me two weeks to get into habit for it. So we will check in again on Sunday with my progress, and starting next Monday see if I need to continue or if i'm confident this is something I can keep up.
What do you challenge yourself to do this week, that is making a healthy change in your lifestyle?

April Goals
I like to start every month with fresh goals. I need solid goals to aim to.
I felt short on my March goals.
Just a little. I did not workout 5x a week. I started off on a good track and somewhere in the middle fell short. So now I'm going to do a weekly schedule of when I can get in at least a mile (bare minimum), 30 minute (good enough) or 60 minutes (ideal).
And I did join WW so I got food under control. I have a bit of a delay because I did horrid Wednesday and Thursday, so between that and not working out - we all know what the scale tells us.
And finally - my goal to workout with hubs on Sunday has changed to just 1-2x a week, regardless of WHEN it is. I talked before about how we have totally different workout personalities, so this will be a challenge, for sure!
So April goals in full (Old and New included)

So April goals in full (Old and New included)
- Workout 5x a week with three options: A mile (minimum), 30 minutes (good enough) or 60 minutes (ideal)
- Stay on plan, all month
- Include a workout with hubs 1-2x a week
- Practice wogging (walk/jog) outside more once the weather breaks, need to adjust to outside versus treadmill
- Water, Water, Water. This month I am focusing on getting in at least 6-8 glasses of water a day, no less!
- I am continuing along with my 100 mile goal, I have 66 left to go. It looks like I won't meet that 100 by the end of April, I'd at least like to see about getting in 30 more towards it. :)
What are your goals for April?

Sometimes you just need to breath...

My husband has been a diabetic for close to 15 years now. He has moments where he goes low, and it's something he didn't give enough attention to, until now.
I was trying to get his attention while he was working from home in the morning, and when he was unresponsive I got worried. Went upstairs and he was completely passed out. I called 911 because I couldn't get him to swallow liquid glucose I had, and so I didn't know what else to do. I'm really glad I did because at this point - they're thinking while he was unconscious he had a mini-stroke.
While we were at the hospital the first two-three hours were horrible. He couldnt speak full sentences, no one knew what he was saying, he was all jumbled. But about 10-12 hours later, he made significant progress. He can speak and tell full, coherent stories. He knows shapes and pictures we show him, he can recall names of people he works with, our wedding date, the hospital he's at, etc. So it's a big improvement from the hours before when he was first admitted.
Something like this has really made me realize how dangerous not taking total control of diabetes is. I had no idea it could go this far, and while I'm not glad it happened - I'm so glad that we have the opportunity to make the changes in the future, because he's going to recover from this. It might be slower than he'd like, but he's going to recover and he's going to get things back in gear. I've spent all this time focusing on having a baby and while that's still important to me (us) - getting him back on track and making sure he's there, alive and healthy when our baby boy or girl is there to grow up is the most important thing. I never realized how much I take daily life and activity for granted until something swoops in and shakes everything up. Scary scary.... More tests to be run sometime later today... Depending on the power of prayer and love right now...
